Rickie & Josie in Sydney

Spring Buying Trip Recap

Fresh from a whirlwind three-day buying trip in Sydney (over 30 brands - yes, really), Rickie and Josie are back and fizzing with inspiration for the season ahead.

From evolving silhouettes to exciting exclusives, here’s everything you need to know about what’s coming to Superette this spring.

The Trip Highlights

Sydney did not disappoint.

There were showroom moments (including a lingerie showing in the Shangri-La lobby at peak Chinese New Year, bras and undies out, no less), plenty of lobby appointments (which we secretly love), and some seriously strong brand moments.

One standout? Elka Collective.

Think the perfect hybrid between winter layering and that first hint of spring energy. The jacketing in particular was a moment, funnel neck crops, fresh silhouettes, and shapes that feel like a real evolution from the classic blazer-and-trench formula.

“Jacketing has evolved,” Rickie and Jos agreed. And we’re here for it.

The Trends We’re Backing

Spring is shaping up to be an exciting transitional season, less about dramatic change, more about thoughtful evolution.

Skirts Are Back

After a tricky few seasons, skirts are officially having their comeback. From midi to full-length, we’re seeing flow, movement, and versatile styling options that feel modern again.

Maxi skirts? Strong.
Midi lengths? Even stronger.
Paperbag waists and crisp cotton finishes? Yes please.

Pair them with a cropped jacket and you’re set.

Dresses, But Evolved

The dress category is stepping up. Think event-ready but wearable. Elevated but not overdone.

With ball season and event dressing on the horizon, Superette is shaping up to be your one-stop shop, especially when paired with strong dressy footwear (good heels, chic work shoes, you know the vibe).

The Western Whisper

There’s a subtle Western undercurrent weaving through collections, brown cord, plaid, fringe details, tactile fabrications. Not costume-y, just enough to add interest.

Intricate detailing is key: specialised beading, textured finishes, thoughtful trims. Simple silhouettes, elevated by fabrication.

Denim: The Next Shift

Denim is always central, and this season is no exception.

Barrel leg remains strong (our latest drop proves it), but we’re seeing a steady return to straighter silhouettes. Not skinny, not yet but slimmer, sleeker 90s-inspired cuts are definitely on the rise.

Colour Report

The palette feels rich yet balanced.
- Chalky browns (still a major moment)
- Deep burgundy's
- Cobalt blues
- Bright primary red

What’s Coming to Superette

Now for the good part.

Layering pieces and suiting are key as we head into cooler months. Sets are still going strong (because we love a two-piece that can double as three outfits).

But beyond trend, there’s some very exciting exclusives on the way.
- A special collab with one of our favourite brands (watch this space).
- An exclusive moment with Ksubi, with someone very special visiting New Zealand.
- Fresh Adidas exclusives within our active space.
- A revamped core basics programme with new silhouettes to refresh your everyday wardrobe.

Spring is about shedding layers, but not stripping back style. It’s about reworking,
refreshing, and investing in pieces that move with you between seasons.

After 30 brands in three days, one thing is clear: the energy feels fresh. Brands have pivoted, categories have strengthened, and the newness feels considered.

Spring is coming and it’s a good one.

Bring it on.
