Life at Superette

Superette Minis: We Let the Kids Run the Show

We had big plans. The kids had bigger ones. In the lead-up to Mother's Day we handed the reins to the next generation for the day, and honestly, we would not change a thing.

Superette Minis: We Let the Kids Run the Show

Okay so here is how we imagined it going. Kids come in, they sit at mum's desk, they charm us with brutally honest answers about what their mum actually does all day, we all have a lovely time. Simple. Sweet. Very cute content.

Here is how it actually went.

From the moment they arrived it was very clear that this was their day and we were simply living in it. Some of them clocked the warehouse immediately and made a beeline for it with the kind of focus their mums spend most of the day trying to channel at their actual jobs. Parcels were picked. Orders were packed. A few things were shipped with great confidence and varying degrees of accuracy. Honestly? Impressive effort.

Others settled in at the desks and absolutely committed to the bit. Screens were studied. Papers were shuffled. Expressions were serious. One or two of them looked frankly more composed than most of us do before our second coffee.

Then came the interviews. We had questions. Good ones. Thoughtful ones. The kids were not interested. Some looked at us like we had said something deeply confusing. Others gave us a single word, decided that covered it, and moved on. A few looked just past the camera in that particular way children have of making you feel slightly invisible. Mostly what we got was shrugs, sideways glances, and the one answer that came up more than any other across the whole day.

Mum.

Called across the warehouse. Whispered at a desk. Occasionally just yelled into the general vicinity hoping she would materialise. Regardless of what job they were doing or how well they were doing it, mum was still the one everyone needed. Which, when you think about it, is probably the most honest thing anyone said all day.

That is the magic of mums and we all know it. They are the ones holding everything together while the rest of us figure it out as we go. To every mum in the Superette family and to every mum reading this, we hope your day is as full of love as you make everyone else's.

We have put together a little Mother's Day edit if you are looking for a way to show her. Nothing pushy, just a few beautiful things for someone who deserves them.
