MSR (Mountain Safety Research) is a brand of high-performance outdoor equipment, including tents, founded in 1969 by engineer and mountaineer Larry Penberthy.

Originally started as a crusade to improve the safety of climbing gear through independent testing and a newsletter, it grew into a pioneering company known for its innovative and reliable products.
