Meet the Maker:
Anna Lahey of VIDA GLOW
Introducing a new wellness brand to Superette, VIDA GLOW.
VIDA GLOW is designed for real, active people that are short on time and are looking for uncomplicated beauty regimes.VIDA GLOW specialises in active beauty solutions and scientifically formulated ingestible supplements.
Founded in 2014, VIDAGLOWāS success has been built on their hero Natural Marine Collagen range ā a clinically proven peptide powder that stimulates collagen production. The aim has always been to create powerful, effective and easy-to-adopt products so that your beauty routine can work as hard as you do.
We caught up with VIDAGLOWāS very own founder, Anna Lahey, to chat through how VIDA GLOW came about, what inspires her products, her philosophy, her style and so much more.
When and how did Vida Glow come about?
After trying every beauty supplement I could find to treat my hair loss, I tried marine collagen on a whim while travelling. I started taking three serves a day, and within weeks I was losing less hair, my nails were growing fast and my skin looked plumper.
At the time, marine collagen was unheard of in Australia. After a year of seeing tangible results, I was compelled to know more. I spent hours reading textbooks and marine collagen clinical trials. Once I understood how efficacious it was in the body, I knew I had to share it. In 2014, we launched our first ā and best-selling product ā Natural Marine Collagen. Today, weāre the global number one collagen brand and we sell one unit of Natural Marine Collagen every four seconds.
How would you describe the Vida Glow customer?
Vida Glow is made for real, busy living. Our customers live fast-paced lives and are discerning about what they use in their beauty routines. They want fuss-free products that fit seamlessly into their day. We know people donāt have time for products that donāt work. At Vida Glow, we create uncomplicated and active beauty solutions with clinically proven results.
Any advice you would give to someone thinking of starting a brand?
Donāt be afraid to be a first-mover. Embrace creative challenges and make the most of the opportunities fast growth brings. If you wholeheartedly follow your passion and donāt get caught up with the competition, you will create a brand with purpose and integrity.
What inspires your new launches and how do you keep it relevant?
Weāre inspired by real routines and common beauty concerns ā and we innovate, not imitate. By harnessing active ingredients and ingestible delivery methods, we bring Vida Glowās high efficacy and innovation to new concerns and regimens. We stay relevant by making products that are clinically proven to do what they say on the box.
Whatās your creation process and is there anything you do to help to get the ideas rolling?
At Vida Glow we are constantly researching new actives and innovative technologies. We find a lot of inspiration in research. In-house, we have a talented NPD team and an innovation lab where we test and trial formulas. When weāre developing new product ideas and bringing launches to life, our team is collaborative and excited to experiment.
What is something not that many people know about you or your brand?
Vida Glow advocates for a bidirectional approach to beauty. Ingestible and topical products should work together in a routine to supercharge results. By synergistically treating skin on the surface and at a cellular level in the dermis, skin health is optimised.
What has been the highlight of your brand/career to date?
This year has been a massive highlight for the brand. Although Vida Glow launched seven years ago, 2021 feels like year one for us. In May we released our vibrant new branding. We relaunched our hero product Natural Marine Collagen with an elevated and science-driven identity. In a category skewed to wellness, our focus is performance and results.
Whatās the best advice youāve ever been given?
Understand your value and stay in your lane. Competition is healthy, but it shouldnāt distract from your sense of self or goals.
What are you listening to right now?
Our team compiles these really amazing Spotify playlists. They cover every mood from working out to chilling out. I have them on rotation.
What are you watching at the moment?
Sex Education ā itās hilarious, but makes me afraid to have teenagers one day.
Describe your style in three words:
Classic, pared-back and functional.
Can you share with us any of your local hidden gems?
The Boathouse in Rose Bay has the best coffee in the world. On the weekends, my husband Kieran and I start the day with a coffee and walk around the bay with our children and dogs.
Where is your favourite destination of all time and why?
The French Riviera ā itās my ultimate escape. Itās rich in history and culture, and I canāt wait to return to HĆ“tel du Cap-Eden Roc.
Where to from here, whatās next for Vida Glow?
Weāre continuing to create first-to-market products and invest in innovation and science-backed products. All of our new launches will be supported by clinical trials, which is revolutionary in ingestible beauty. Over the next year, weāre focussing on targeted ingestible solutions for concerns across skin, hair and the body.
Whatās your daily go-to outfit?
A blazer, tee shirt and jeans with sneakers or heels ā depending on what my day brings.
Whatās your favourite thing about living in Sydney?
I love the warm weather, beaches and coastal walks ā and the relaxed lifestyle Sydney brings.
